Imagine nature gives you all of the abilities technology can achieve or the soup is G*d scenario.
Humans are endowed with a lot of special abilities that most known animals don’t have. At the same time we are limited in many regards.
Every individual comes in his own shape and size, but we tend to stop growing at a certain point in our lives, unlike some species of snake, crocodiles, crabs, elephants and kangaroos…
We don’t live to be hundreds of years old like turtles for example either… heck – we die of old age and that’s that.
We are also limited by our ability to relay information. Limited by language and writing as our primary ways of communication, unlike other biological organisms such as ants for example, who use pheromones to communicate, we express ourselves through an intricate system of signs and audible ques.
Humans have developed mathematics and science to study ourselves, the world around us as well as to create things to aid us in our everyday living.
In a way we are learning to master the art of creation. Yet there is always a chance that people might stray too far to create something unnecessary that may yield inequality, suffering and creating issues among social structures or among one another.
There is a certain beautiful order to our current biological human living condition, which most animals don’t really have access to – that especially being our ability to not only maintain a relationship with nature but also a relationship with technology.
I propose to consider imagining a scenario of existence where nature doesn’t have any limits… say we are endowed with unlimited growth potential, unlimited aging and unlimited communication of all of our thoughts, feelings and sensations… without the limit of language.
This scenario is unbelievably hard to put in play in reality, but lets just imagine that the so called primordial soup we’re all theorized to be made of brought upon such a condition on our reality.
Say we not only hear each other’s thoughts and feelings so to say, but also aren’t limited to feeling each other’s senses to a certain range which expands with our growth.
Let’s say there’s a starting limit of a few meters to our telepathic range, but as we eat and grow the range of our communication grows with us.
Endowed with omni-directional multi sensory telepathy, we roam around the planet, running into one another. Sure, one could say we could get along, up until a person is hungry and senses his neighbor eating, which would likely play out in a few scenarios – such as the neighbor exchanging greetings and sharing some food.
The alternate scenario, a more realistic one – taking into account the variation in size of individuals who have managed to consume more (making them bigger and more powerful), as opposed to the individuals who have not consumed as much food (making them smaller and weaker) – the bigger neighbor is likely to eat the smaller neighbor, especially given he is a carnivore.
This can be observed with fish for example.
What would this mean for the nature of being and our surroundings?
Our living condition would be a curse of endless consumption in pursuit of power. Our civilization would be comprised of ants and giants, fighting over food for the sole goal of becoming the biggest and most powerful giant, or hiding to avoid the giant.
Some would endlessly grow and become bigger and hungrier, others would be condemned to an underground life of scavenging.
We would be condemned to an endless planetary war, that is - unless love, aliens or robots get involved somehow.
I just hope Godzilla and Mecha-Godzilla hugged it out.
